Annie Lennox has joked she’s “in with a chance” after an American radio station mistakenly ‘scouted’ her thinking she’s a hopeful singer.

The Oscar-winning singer has been in the spotlight for several decades now, first finding fame in the ’80s as part of duo the Eurythmics alongside Dave Stewart before embarking on a solo career in 1992.
With global hits such as There Must Be an Angel (Playing with my Heart) and Here Comes the Rain Again under her belt it’s hard not to recognise Annie’s distinct vocals, but it seems one person working for a radio station in Los Angeles has no idea who she is.
The 62-year-old artist took to Twitter on Thursday (29Jun17) to share a humorous message she received from a broadcast journalist called Kylie, humorously captioning the picture, “I think I’m in with a chance ??!!!”
In the letter Kylie introduces herself and writes, “I came across your music online and I really like what I heard! I’m the New Music Coordinator for a station that has over 100,000 unique listeners each month. I find artists who I think have potential and get them on rotation in our station.”
She continued to invite Annie to send over the MP3 for her latest single for her to forward to the programme director at the station to see if he’ll put it “on rotation”. Kylie also quizzed the musician on what support campaign she currently has for her music, offering to help even further.
“I only ask because we are connected to an artist development firm that can also get you onto 150 radio stations worldwide and provide support for press, retail, video and licensing,” the oblivious sender added. “The best part is, if they really like your music, they’ll cover all of the marketing expenses. Please let them know Kylie referred you and you should be in.”
Followers found the whole scenario amusing, with one using lyrics from Eurythmics song Sweet Dreams (Are Made of This) to comment, “Just a warning, Annie: everybody’s looking for something. Some of them want to use you, some of them want to get used by you.”
