Bonnie Brooks has exited the Abercrombie & Fitch Co. boardroom.
The retailer in a regulatory filling said Brooks resigned as a director on Tuesday “for personal reasons.”
Brooks, who could not immediately be located by WWD, had been a director at Abercrombie since 2014. She joined the retailer as one of four independent directors who gained places on the board in the wake of a battle with activist Engaged Capital, which was needling former chief executive officer Mike Jeffries for change.
Jeffries, who build the modern Abercrombie business, resigned in December that year and the company sought to reinvent under the direction of executive chairman Arthur Martinez and current ceo Fran Horowitz.
Brooks brought a lot of retail experience to the board, having served as vice chairman in addition to a number of other executive roles at Hudson’s Bay Co. She also spent 11 years in Asia with The Lane Crawford Joyce Group and worked at Holt Renfrew & Co.
From 1994 to 1996, she was editor in chief of the Canadian fashion magazine Flare.
Brooks has logged a lot of time in the boardroom, serving on the boards of the RioCan Real Estate Investment Trust, Rogers Communications Inc., Chico’s FAS Inc., Empire Company and the
