Karen Greenberg, president of Calvin Klein Sportswear, a unit of G-III Apparel Group Ltd., died at home Monday at the age of 60.
The cause of death was esophageal cancer.
Greenberg was born in White Plains, N.Y., and grew up in Dallas. Her fashion career began at Dillard’s, where she worked for eight years before joining Liz Claiborne Inc. In her 26 years at Claiborne, she rose to division president, responsible for the group’s midtier apparel business. She left Claiborne in 2012 to join G-III as president of the Calvin Klein Sportswear division.
“She’s one of the most committed people who never gave up,” said Morris Goldfarb, chairman and chief executive officer of G-III.
Sammy Aaron, president of G-III, to whom Greenberg reported, said, “She was loved by everyone at G-III. She lived her life with grace, love and professionalism. She will be missed dearly.”
Greenberg is survived by her husband, Neil Laufer, and children, Josh and Rachel.
Services will be held Wednesday at Temple Israel of New Rochelle at 1000 Pinebrook Blvd. at 10:30 a.m.
